B i o g r a p h y

Michelle has worked as a professional musician since completing her Bachelor of Music degree from Towson University in 2005.  In addition to performing with various theater companies and working  as a private vocal coach, Michelle is also a professional church cantor for wedding and funeral Masses with over 15 years of experience.

 

  In 2009 she was nominated for a Perry Award for her performance as Belle in the Maurice Levin Theater's production of Beauty and the Beast.  Some of her other recent roles have included Mrs. Cohen in Rent and Janet in Rocky Horror Picture Show with South Mountain Theater Works.  She was the musical director for the Chatham Community Players production of Seussical, which was nominated for a Perry Award as well.  Michelle  has also played the roles of  Meg in Little Women, Sharon from Master Class and Belle in A Christmas Carol with the Chatham Community Players. With the Strollers of Maplewood, she played the role of Hope in Urinetown.   

Over the past few years, Michelle has also worked for Elefante Music in New Providence as a musical theater teacher for various age level classes, and for their intensive summer camp.

 

Outside of her extensive involvement with community theater, Michelle competed as contestant for American Idol and ultimately became semi-finalist  during the show's  second season.  Currently, Michelle is a cantor for The Church of Christ the King in New Vernon and The Church of Saint James in Basking Ridge. Since 2005 she has performed the duties of mass cantor  for weddings, funerals and various liturgical celebrations. 

 

​Michelle teaches private voice and piano lessons in NJ around the Bernardsville/ Basking Ridge area.  Voice lessons are directed mostly for singers, however Michelle is also available to coach  public speaking for professional presentations, or for audition preparation.
